8 Awesome FS22 Planter Mods
You’ll see what I think are the best Farming Simulator 22 (FS22) planter mods on this page. I have nothing against using the 9 vanilla games planters, but it’s great to have variety.
Also, some of the mods add additional working widths to the game, which is perhaps the feature I like the most.
Anyhow, let’s take a look at some perfect planters, shall we?
1. Case IH 2150 Early Riser Planters Series
I dare say these are the most beautiful planters in FS22. The Case IH 2150 Early Riser planters are spectacular in every field.
They are also some of the most feature-rich planting tools in the history of Farming Simulator games. More on that later.
This is a planter pack. When you download it, you’ll get three different versions of the Early Riser series:
- 12R30 (30 feet – 9.1 meters.)
- 16R30 (40 feet – 12.2 meters.)
- 24R30 (60 feet – 18.3 meters.)
Feature-Rich
The shopping menu contains a lot of goodies that can be added to the planters:
- Fleet numbers are available (1–18.)
- The planters can have wheels or tracks.
- You can have weights on each end of the wings.
- What about a hydraulic oil cooler on the drawbar?
- There are several configurations for the seed and fertilizer tanks.
- You can also buy a scale for the seed tanks with a functional monitor.
My favorite feature, however, is the hitch options. We can choose between a drawbar and a two-point hitch. This allows better interaction with more tractor models.
Custom Modding’s efforts to bring more red planters to FS22 are highly successful. It’s hard to believe that we get mods like this for free!
- Base Price: From 149,756.
- Direct seeding: Yes.
- Required horsepower: 150, 180, 280.
- Work speed: 14 kph, 9 mph.
- Planting width: 9.1 m, 12.2 m, 18.3 m.
- Capacity: 1,071-6,551 liters.
- Modder: Custom Modding.
- Errors: No.
- Platforms: All.
2. John Deere DB120
And now, the largest planter in Farming Simulator 22. The massive John Deere DB120 mod has a working width of 36.5 meters, 120 feet.
It’s no longer a question if the planter is big enough. With this planter, you must ask yourself if your fields are large enough.
In the game, this bad boy has more than 1,300 moving parts.
You’ll likely be there for a while when you visit the shop. It’s rare to get a Farming Simulator planter with this many configuration choices:
- You can add a tank for liquid fertilizer to the planter.
- There are wheels, lights, and GPS options. (The GPS option is just for show, though.)
- You can add row cleaners, a rear hitch, wing wheels, and whing wheel covers.
- It’s also doable to put a vacuum air blower on the rear of the planter.
Most of the shop options do not affect the gameplay. Still, they are remarkable features to play around with.
Oh, another cool feature is that you can add an Unverferth auger to the rear of the planter. It works; you can use it to fill seeds into the tanks.
All in all, an excellent mod from JHHG Modding.
- Base Price: 345,000.
- Direct seeding: Yes.
- Required horsepower: 370.
- Work speed: 15 kph, 9 mph.
- Planting width: 36.5 meters.
- Capacity: 3,524-5,994 liters.
- Modder: JHHG Modding.
- Errors: No.
- Platforms: All.
3. John Deere 1720 16R30 2012
Here’s a magnificent 16-row planter for Farming Simulator 22. It’s the 2012 version of the John Deere 1720 16R30. What impresses me most is all the addons you can buy in the shop:
- You can add dry fertilizer or liquid fertilizer tanks.
- Want a rear attacher? That’s also possible.
- It’s also possible to add extensions to the seed boxes.
- You can buy row cleaners too, although they have no functionality.
- The planter can be equipped with weights on each side wing.
- And, of course, there are a couple of wheel options too.
Another impressive feature of the mod is all the animations. The number of moving parts is more than 510! Awesome! Even the pressure gauges are animated.
I know JHHG Modding is the center of some controversy in the Farming Simulator community. That doesn’t take away from the fact that this is one of the best planters you can use in FS22.
- Base Price: 62,300.
- Direct seeding: Yes.
- Required horsepower: 210.
- Work speed: 15 kph, 9 mph.
- Planting width: 12 meters.
- Capacity: From 896 liters (seeds) and 757 liters (fertilizer.)
- Modder: JHHG Modding.
- Errors: No.
- Platforms: All.
4. Horsch Maestro 12 SW
Real-world farming equipment from the German manufacturer Horsch is deemed both innovative and top quality. I’m happy to see the Horsch Maestro 12 SW planter in FS22.
It used to be a base game tool in previous game versions. Thanks to the modder Dithmarscher Modding, it’s getting another run in FS22.
The planter has hoppers for both seeds and dry fertilizer.
However, it doesn’t include direct seeding capabilities. You’ll need to prepare the seedbed with a cultivator or a disc harrow, for example, before you can use it.
The shop options are few but welcome. You can change the wheels, but nothing more.
- Base Price: 93,000.
- Direct seeding: No.
- Required horsepower: 180.
- Work speed: 15 kph, 9 mph.
- Planting width: 18 meters.
- Capacity: 9,000 liters.
- Modder: Dithmarscher Modding.
- Errors: No.
- Platforms: All.
5. Horsch Maestro SW 24.75
The Horsch Maestro SW 24.75 planter is part of the large Horsch mod pack for Farming Simulator 22 (FS22.) The impressive pack contains 17 pieces of equipment, including this massive planter.
The planter has a large sowing width of 18 meters. The tank has a capacity of 9,000 liters, which should keep you busy for a while.
- Inside the shop, you can add many different colors to the planter.
- Several wheel configurations are available, like wide tires and narrow twin wheels.
Direct Seeding
This Horsch planter supports direct seeding, meaning you don’t have to prepare the soil before planting.
It puts the standard plants into the ground: corn, sunflowers, soybeans, sugar beets, and cotton.
It’s also worth noting that you can plant your fields at a speed of 18 kilometers per hour, 11 miles per hour. This is significantly more than most other planters in the game.
- Base Price: 169,000.
- Required horsepower: 270 hp.
- Sowing speed: 18 kph, 11 mph.
- Sowing width: 18 meters.
- Seed capacity: 2,000 liters.
- Fertilizer capacity: 7,000 liters.
- Modder: Rubberburner89.
- Errors: No.
- Platforms: PC, Mac.
6. Horsch Maestro SW 16.75
If 18 meters is too wide or perhaps too expensive, the 12 meters wide Horsch Maestro SW 16.75 is a great alternative.
This modded planter is also part of the FS22 Horsch pack mod. It shares many features with its bigger brother, but the sowing width and the price tag are lower.
Also, you don’t get as many wheel options as with the Maestro SW 24.75 above in the shop.
Direct Seed Planter
The smaller Horsch planter has direct seeding capabilities too. You don’t have to prepare the ground before you start planting.
With the sizeable solid fertilizer tank, you get a planter that saves you a lot of time if you choose to work your fields with this one.
The modder Rubberburner89 has successfully converted the two Horsch planters to FS22. Hopefully, he continues the work, for example, adding more sounds to them.
- Base Price: 159,000.
- Required horsepower: 220 hp.
- Sowing speed: 15 kph, 9 mph.
- Seed capacity: 2,000 liters.
- Fertilizer capacity: 7,000 liters.
- Modder: Rubberburner89.
- Errors: No.
- Platforms: PC, Mac.
7. Great Plains YP-4025A
The Great Plains YP-4025A planter mod for FS22 is a smaller version of the larger YP-2425A below. Sure, the planting width is 6 meters less, but it has a feature its bigger brother hasn’t:
It’s equipped with liquid fertilizer tanks, saving you one round of fertilizing.
That’s not the only benefit. It can also put more seed types into the ground than ordinary planters. In addition to the regular seed types, you can also use it for:
- Wheat and barley.
- Oat and canola (rapeseed.)
- Sorghum, oilseed radish, and grass.
Clever Hitch
The only shop option is buying a trailer or a 3-point hitch. However, it’s an important option. If you choose the 3-point hitch, you can make tighter turns with the planter.
This Great Plains tool is one of the planters I use the most. It’s perfect for medium-sized fields but will also make quite a dent in the large ones.
- Base Price: 102,000.
- Required horsepower: 250 hp.
- Sowing speed: 15 kph, 9 mph.
- Sowing width: 12 meters.
- Seed capacity: 2,900 liters.
- Fertilizer capacity: 1,514 liters.
- Modder: Diniz Farms.
- Errors: No.
- Platforms: PC, Mac.
8. Great Plains YP-2425A
Many people were happy when the Great Plains YP-2425A made its Farming Simulator entry back in FS17. Finally, a usable North American planter that looks good and was free of errors!
Some players might miss it in FS22, even though we’ve gotten great Kinze and John Deere alternatives. I don’t think I’m the only one appreciating that the modder Adams Kong has converted the YP-2425A to FS22.
Plants More Plants
No, the Great Plains YP-2425A doesn’t have direct seeding capabilities. In other words, you must plow or cultivate your field before putting seeds into the ground with it.
Nor does it have fertilizer tanks, meaning you have to do an extra round of fertilizing to get the best yield.
However, on a positive note, you can buy a 3-point hitch for the drawbar of the planter. It allows you to make tighter turns.
Like its smaller brother, the YP-2425A can also put more plants into the soil. It plants the same additional crops as the YP-4025A (wheat, barley, oat, canola, sorghum, oilseed radish, and grass.)
- Base Price: 142,000.
- Required horsepower: 280 hp.
- Sowing speed: 15 kph, 9 mph.
- Sowing width: 18.2 meters.
- Seed capacity: 5,800 liters.
- Fertilizer capacity: –
- Modder: Adams Kong.
- Errors: No.
- Platforms: All.
Planters Explained
In Farming Simulator 22, you have seeders. And you have planters. So, what defines a planter?
Agricultural planters are used for sowing large seeds in rows in a field. They have a pretty noticeable row spacing, often 20—40 inches, 50—100 centimeters.
If you go online to search for planters, you’ll often see phrases like 12-row planter, 16-row planter, 24-row planter, and so on. Those phrases tell you how many seeded rows the planters create in one pass.
Here are some of the plants that are sown using planters in real-life farming:
- Corn.
- Sunflowers.
- Sorghum.
- Soybeans.
- Beets.
- Canola.
- Cotton.
Planter Plants
In FS22, planters are used to put seeds of the following plants into the soil:
- Corn, sunflowers, soybeans.
- Sugar beets, cotton.
Some of the planters below does also work with other types of crops. Not totally realistic, I know, but also quite helpful.
